Gigi Valera,
I bought Beth Carter’s book because, like her, I started writing later in life。 Writers in college or in an MFA program have their professors as resources, but those of us coming to writing from other careers do not。 I have read other books on writing by authors such as William Zinsser, Anne Lamott and Stephen King, so I wasn’t sure what Carter would add。 I was happy to discover that her extensive background in marketing provided strategies other books have not。 She provided sources of inspirati I bought Beth Carter’s book because, like her, I started writing later in life。 Writers in college or in an MFA program have their professors as resources, but those of us coming to writing from other careers do not。 I have read other books on writing by authors such as William Zinsser, Anne Lamott and Stephen King, so I wasn’t sure what Carter would add。 I was happy to discover that her extensive background in marketing provided strategies other books have not。 She provided sources of inspiration, strategies for goal setting and tips for maximizing social media, among many other things。 Carter writes in a an engaging an approachable voice which makes the learning enjoyable。 I congratulate her for her publishing successes and thank her for generously sharing what she’s learned。 。。。more

Wow。 Where was this book when I started writing mine? Seriously。 It would have helped me avoid so many mistakes, saved so much time and money。 I’m 85,000 words into my 13th book, but I’ve put that on hold so I can start applying what Beth Carter is teaching me, about writing, about the business of writing, and what a successful writer looks like at home。 Carter is surprisingly open about her personal journey toward writing success, and I find those admissions of errors and instances of hope and Wow。 Where was this book when I started writing mine? This book has so many gems of wisdom for new writers。 I wish there was something like this when I started my career。 Whether you want to self-publish or go the traditional route, Beth has insight into both paths。 And for less than $10 (or even less for an ebook), you can get all that information!
